Edward
Mallett is a native born Houstonian. He is a graduate of Lamar High School,
Dartmouth College, and the University of Texas, School of Law. Ed proudly
identifies himself as a Criminal Defense Lawyer.
He returned to Houston after passing the Bar Examination, and has been
in private practice ever since. His career in criminal defense started
with court appointments. His early successes quickly led to retained cases,
including serious felonies in state and federal courts. He is a Board Certified
criminal law expert. He is a recognized authority on federal grand jury
investigations. Ed has prosecuted only as a Special Prosecutor when appointed
by the President of the State Bar of Texas. He also assisted with corporate
investigation into employee theft, embezzlement, and fraud. He is often
associated in civil cases that raise criminal law issues, such as allegations
of tax evasion, price fixing, stock trading on insider information and
disputes with state and federal regulatory agencies.
Ed’s academic career also includes attending the
Graduate School of Business at the University of Chicago, ten years
on the faculty of the University of Houston School of Law, fifteen
years teaching at the National Criminal Defense College and more than 100
presentations on criminal law subjects to the bar associations and law
students throughout the United States.
